The beautiful thing about building a career in making movies, and writing them, is that there is no one path, no set of rules. Anyone, anywhere, can catch a break and write a story that changes the world. This is a fact.
This also means YOU - the writer - are responsible for building that career. And that can be a lot of responsibility.
To quote Spiderman’s uncle Ben, “with great power, comes great responsibility.”
The power of the page can summon a crew of 100 people and millions of dollars. Storytelling is a gift and a craft bundled in one. It’s awesome, it’s electric, it’s truly a superpower knowing how to write a screenplay.
Now let’s chat about the responsibility part. What responsibility you ask?
We, the writers, must always find a way to write our stories, especially when things get tough. Like when you don’t feel inspired. When nobody’s answering your calls. When you’re riddled with doubt. The successful writers - they get knocked down, too - they just keep writing when they’re on the floor.
