We're all writers in the end, and must acknowledge the Power of the Pen
Writers wield more than just a pen
Someone recently reminded me of the power of the pen. Stories have been told throughout history, across cultures, since the beginning of time, really.
The written word was a way to pass down knowledge, experiences, and memories.
It still is.
Whether you’re a screenwriter like me, or a novelist, a poet, a blogger, or a greeting-card writer. Whether your canvas is lyrics, or song, or an actual canvas. Maybe your art is designing architecture, like some of the buildings I’m traveling across the world to see. Statues and giant relics, still admired and studied thousands of years later.
Creation comes in many forms.
The point I’m making is, storytellers have a larger role than just entertainment.
Entertainment is important; it’s what helps digest a story, a theme, an idea, an issue, etc. Entertainment is the way we mask the “power of the pen”.
And some great writers choose not to MASK their words at all.
Like the great journalists of our time, reporting acts of heroism and atrocities around the world, from both past and present.
It’s a new year this morning. The year 2023; a year of infinite possibilities. Especially when you realize the importance of the written word. It opens doors, and changes people’s lives. I feel incredibly blessed to write fiction for a living, and I hope many others out there find a way to tell their stories, for both aspirational reasons, and the cathartic ones, too.
We’re all writers, in some form or another. We all have a voice and something to say.
Happy New Year and wield your words responsibly. They matter.

A great share. Words always matter. And words of encouragement and support matter the most. Happy New year indeed.
