The greatest athletes in the world do this all the time.

It’s common-knowledge and common-practice in sports. There’s a book called Psycho-Cybernetics that gets into detail about how your mind is basically a servo-mechanism that can be assigned to any task, or goal. It’s quite fascinating. Look, we’ve all heard the the story of the rookie basketball player who practiced shooting the game-winning three pointer from his bed every night, or the nobody-golfer who mastered the ninth hole of Pebble Beach from bumfvck Iowa.

Would you believe me if I told you many successful writers do something similar?

We don’t have buzzer-beater shots to make, per se… Actually, we do. It’s called the pitch meeting. You think we don’t picture ourselves selling in the room before we walk in?

But let’s take it a step back, because to land a pitch meeting, you usually need some credentials, and this tactic is aimed at all writers, even those in the earliest stages of their career.
