How the movie industry changed completely from a writer who's sold a few movies and had part time jobs
Here goes nothing-
The movie industry has been changing drastically in the last decade. Right around the time I got my first deal, back in 2016. But the shift has jumped exponentially in the last 5 years. With the popularity of streamers, and death of more traditional companies and studios.
We always thought we dodged the big shift the music industry suffered with piracy and apps like Spotify. Like, music is fvcked. But we are safe. Nobody wants to watch a pirated blurry movie on their computer. They’ll pay the 4.99$. They want the theater experience because it’s fun.
But with the advent of streamers — alandslide of opportunities opened up… as well as an over-saturation of content. We’ve all heard that word. Oversaturated. It’s a yucky word. I hate it. But it’s a real thing. Movies, shows, reality, influencer content — it’s all paired together and called content now.
